Data curation: Home

Introduction

Management of data is an essential part of good research practice and involves planning, organising, accessing, storing and sharing data. Many of the Research Data Management activities will be familiar to researchers:

•             Considering data collection before a project starts

•             How research data is collected, stored and processed during a project

•             The long-term preservation of data for potential re-use in the future

Good data management:

•             Increases the impact of the research by encouraging data citation as well as article citation

•             Improves access to data and avoids duplication of effort

•             Facilitates cross disciplinary research

•             Ensures integrity of data
