The Marjorie Robinson Library Rooms: Marj 2.0

Building a better library service

Work begins on 31st July to modernise and extend the Marjorie Robinson Library Rooms to the Third and Fourth floors so it is ready to welcome even more students in the coming years. This work requires the temporary move of some of the existing study facilities and a short building closure.

We will be working hard with colleagues in Estates Support Services to keep disruption to a minimum.

From Monday 31st July until January 2018

From Monday 31st July the First floor collaborative learning space will be closed until January 2018 for refurbishment.

The Group Study Rooms will be unavailable during this time however you can book rooms in the Philip Robinson Library. Skype is also available on the PCs in the Learning Lounge at the rear of the Cafe on Level 2 of the Philip Robinson Library & also on the PCs beside the short-loan lockers on Level 2.

From Monday 21st August until Monday 4th September the entire building will be closed.

This is to allow time for furniture and computers to be moved from First and Second floors to Third and Fourth floors, as well as some disruptive building works to take place.  The Philip Robinson Library will be open with plenty of study spaces on offer.

Ground floor, Third and Fourth floors will open on Monday 4th September

First and Second floors will remain closed for refurbishment until January 2018.  The refurbishment will include infrastructure upgrades, installation of energy efficient lighting and a new suites of toilets.  Office space is also being created to accommodate Newcastle University’s Learning and Teaching Development Service.

All five floors of the Marjorie Robinson Library Rooms will open in January 2018

From January 2018 we will have study space on all five floors of the Marjorie Robinson Library Rooms, providing plenty of additional study spaces in time for the revision and exam time.
