Government publications provide primary information in a variety of subjects. Statistics, White Papers, Parliamentary Bills and a whole range of Official Legislation published by the Government provide a good reliable source of accurate statistics, and can give support to your argument in essay topics across all subjects.

The library has a large collection of printed government publications and statistics back to the 19th century. These are located in the Research Reserve.

Many government publications are now available online; this guide highlights the useful websites.

The government website at GOV.UK replaces Directgov and BusinessLink. It provides lots of useful information about government services, as well as:

• links to government services by subject. 
• An A-Z of government departments, agencies and public bodies, including the Environment Agency & DEFRA. 
• Find your local council (England only) - find details of local councils. 

You can also find information on how the Government works and the current situation with the UK's exit from the European Union, including the Withdrawal Agreement and Political Declaration and preparing for EU Exit.

The Open Parliament Licence does not cover:

• images featured on Art in Parliament.
• Parliamentary Archives.
• parliamentary photographic images.
• live and archive video or audio broadcasts.
