To find out about general Library services go to the main Library website.
Get answers to your questions through our searchable knowledge base. If you prefer, you can tweet, email or text your query, just click on the logo to find out how. For detailed subject enquiries, contact firstname.lastname@example.org
If you follow the links from the Library pages, most of our resources will work directly in your browser by launching the Newcastle Login Gateway. Just use your Newcastle ID and password to login.
Note: if you find information via a general search engine like Google which has no link to Newcastle’s webpages, the login gateway will not launch and you may think we don’t have the item.
To check, look the item up in LibrarySearch (just put in the journal/book/conference title) and follow the links from there.
Use LibrarySearch to find books and electronic books from the Library (as well as a range of journal articles and other electronic resources)
All Newcastle undergraduate students based at Ngee Ann may use the Lien Ying Chow Library
All Newcastle undergraduate students based at Nanyang may use the Nanyang Poly Library
All permanent residents of Singapore can become members of the National Library of Singapore for no charge on production of their NRIC.Other people may join on payment of an annual foreign membership fee.
The Library subscribes to a range of electronic journals and databases, both local and international, as well a several collections of standards and business information.
Use Library Search to look for books and journal articles. If the book/journal is available in electronic form, you will be able to access it from the links in Library Search. You will need to logon with your campus ID to get access.
If the book is only available as a printed book, then check first to see if it is also available at Ngee Ann or Nanyang libraries.
If it is not available in your local libraries but it is available in print in Newcastle, you can request a scan of a maximum of 1 chapter of the book/ 1 article from a journal issue by using the Desktop Delivery Service.
If you are looking for specific material which none of the libraries own, please contact us (email@example.com). If it is possible to buy an electronic copy of a book we will try to do so, though we cannot do this for journal articles we don't subscribe to
We cannot send printed books to Singapore and the British Library's Inter Library Loan system only operates within the UK, so there may be occasions where we cannot help you to find what you need. However, we may be able to advise you about alternative sources which will help.
