Reading Lists

A guide to creating, editing and managing your list

6. CLA digitisation request for book chapters and articles

Within the Library we offer a CLA scanning service where we can legally make digitised copies of book chapters and articles without breaching Copyright or information licence agreements.

You will find further information about how this licence works on our webpages.

Making use of digitised copies adds value to the collections held by the Library, by opening up access via Canvas to materials that would otherwise have limited print access. The process is simple, whereby if you add a tag to the relevant item, the Library will take care of the rest.

To request an item on your list to be digitised:

  1. Add the item to your list via Library Search, manually or using the Cite it! tool.
  2. With the citation on your list, click on the 3 dots next to the entry and choose to Edit item.

  1. Under Item actions, click to add tag.
  2. Select the tag Requires CLA scanning from the list.
  3. Click Save.

This request will come through to the reading list team and we will investigate the digitsation request for you. This includes ensuring the source book or journal is covered by the CLA Licence. If successful we will replace the tag and add the URL to the scanned file for students to access. We will only contact you if there is a problem.
