RefAnalytics

We need to record the types of queries that we are asked. We use a program called RefAnalytics to record 'transactions'.

Please ensure that you record any queries that you are asked. You do not need to go into too much detail, but please record the essential information. This is to show how busy we are as a library service. Senior management review our entries each month.

  • An item must be selected from the Topic box - or - if you are unsure which Topic to select, complete as much information as possible in the Question field(s).
  • Select the Type of Query.
  • Select the method by which the question was asked using the How was it asked options.
  • Select Law in the Where was it answered field.
  • Select the category of user in the Who asked it box.
  • Once you have selected the boxes relevant to the query, click on Submit & Clear.

Please note:

  • You have the option of recording a query retrospectively if the desk is particularly busy. Go to the Time Stamp field and select Edit Date/Time.
  • If you have had multiple queries that are the same then you can select Submit rather than Submit & Clear and your selections will be saved for the next query.
  • If you need to deselect a field, click on the heading, e.g. Topic.

An example of a common query that needs to be recorded is 'Where can I find this book?'

Complete what you can, but this image shows the ideal basic input.
